Pre-Flop: This is the first stage of a poker hand, where players put in their blinds and receive their two hole cards, during this period action starts to the left of the big blind.
Flop: The Flop are the first three community cards to hit the table, after pre-flop action. Action after the flop is dealt begin with the small blind.
Turn: The turn is the fourth community card to be dealt out on the table, after all action has been taken on the flop, remaining players will proceed to the Turn.
River: The river is the fifth and final community card to be dealt out on the table, after this card hits the table players will receive one final round of action.
Showdown: The Showdown is once all action has been taken, if two or more players are still involved and all bets have been called players show their hands for the dealer to determine the winner.
Small Blind: Small blind is half of the pre-flop minimum call, the small blind is always to the left of the dealer button and will have to pay before they receive their cards.
Big Blind: Big blind is the full pre-flop minimum call, big blind is always to the left of the small blind and will have to pay before they receive their cards.
Button: The button is the strongest position in the game, the cards always get dealt out to the left of the button. after the flop the button is the last player to act, which gives them a very strong position.
Hole Cards:Your hole cards are the two cards that you receive pre-flop, no one else may see these cards. Unless you're the small blind or big blind you get to see your cards before putting any money into the hand.
Call: Call is the act where you call the blinds to see the flop, or when you call another players bet to continue playing the hand, this requires putting in what ever amount another player has put in before you, it could be as small as the big blind or be as large as what ever another player has bet.
Check: Check is an action you take when there is not any money to call, pre-flop if you're the big blind and no one has raised, then you may check and proceed to the flop. After the flop if no on in front of you has bet you may check to proceed to the next player.
Raise: Raise is when you put money into the pot that everyone else who wants to continue playing that hand will have to call. An example of raising would be pre-flop when you decide you want to put in more money than is required for the minimum call. A raise must always be double the big blind pre-flop and a minimum of the big blind after the flop.
Re-Raise: This is the act of putting in more money than someone before you had raised, when you re-raise you must put in double what the player before you has raised, for example if they bet out 100, then if you would like to reraise you would have to put in the 100 they did and another 100, the only exception to this is when you go all in and you can not afford double.
All in: The act of going all in is when you put the rest of your chips into the pot.
Fold: Folding is an act you can take when you don't want to put any more money into the pot or if it's pre-flop any money at all. You may fold at any time when it is your turn, this will remove you from the hand and the dealer will take your cards, however if it doesn't cost you anything to keep playing the hand you should always check.
Community Cards: Community Cards are the cards that come out on the table during the flop, the turn and the river. These cards are for use by everyone at the table to make the best hand they can.
Kicker: This is the card that will determine if you win a hand when two players have a hand of the same strength, for example if two people have a pair of aces then the next highest card they have will be played as a kicker, who ever has the highest card will win the hand.
Pot: This is the money in the center of the table, as the hand goes on everyone who continues to play, will be contributing to the pot once the hand is completed the winner will take the pot to add to their chips.
Split Pot: A split pot is when two players have a hand of the exact same strength, including any kicker that might play. when this happens the pot will be split between the two players, assuming their hands were the strongest in play.
Side Pot: A side pot is what you get when you have an all in player who can not cover any additional cost of the hand, once they are all in the pot will become the main pot and a side pot will be started for everyone else involved in the hand, this pot will consist of anything over the all in players balance.
